I actively develop my art through experimental and documentary film, photography, and other media. My films demonstrate unseen or altered views of our reality, and my photos offer a quiet yet modern look at the world.
Artist Statement:
As an artist, I am both scientific and innovative– my process is structured and meticulous, yet the resulting artwork is fluid and meditative. I am drawn to work with photography and video, where I use technology in my creative expression.
I choose to make much of my work visually abstract, as it adds a dimension that cannot simply be rationalized by the viewer. I accomplish this by manipulating visual design elements, or by using experimental processes or philosophies.
I enjoy playing with the structural aspects of image-making, the process, the technique, and the technology of the medium. I will often use technologies in ways they were not intended, as well as invent new systems or processes. Many of these techniques render the subject abstract, minimal, and exotic.
Thematically encompassing all of my work are my deep feelings about appreciation. My appreciation for nature and the natural state, the elemental and balanced. My appreciation for people through our works– works of our minds, bodies, and spirit. And my sadness about the lack of appreciation held by others, that I see in the world.
My aim is to awaken in others an appreciation and a wonderment of their experience, to equip viewers with new eyes to see familiar landscapes. My art is my vessel to promote deeper connections with each other and to promote deeper connections with nature.
